name
Pune

believed

derived
from
its

Punyanagari,

copper
plate

937
CE.

came
to
be
known
as
Punawadi
and
was
called
Poona
for

time
until
1977,
when

name

finally
changed
to
'Pune'.

independence
of
India,
the
city
underwent

development
and
is

of
the

in
